Anyway, I played the many models and settled on the Indonesian-made one, which seemed to me to have the best quality.
Meanwhile, as the flood of Asian Fender copies surged over Europe, Fender sought a competitive low-cost alternative.
The truss rod was a little tight leading to a slight up-bow (loosened) 4. The soldering is less good than it could be (It works faultlessly so I will see to that when I have time) Time taken - one hour / Cost - 3.50 (.00) for strings.
This Wilshire is at least as good as my '84 MIJ Fender Telecaster and has pretty much taken its place.
I appreciate that other Indonesian made instruments may not be as good as mine but if mine is representative of their best work then other country's are going to have to up their game.
JG I purchased my Wildkat in November from SWEETWATER. They changed the strings and set it up before shipping to me.
The Fender serial number decoder currently supports all documented MIA, MIJ, MIM, MIK and MII formats with the exception of Custom Shop, Relic and Reissue instruments.
Please note that fender serial numbers tend to overlap by at least a year, and thereby the date of your guitar can only be approximated.
Korean Squiers: C refers to Cort, V refers to Saehan(Sunghan), S was already taken by Samick so Saehan(Sunghan) used V instead (Saehan(Sunghan) made the Vester guitars). The second character refers to the decade: N represents Nineties (1990's). So, for example "CN6" = made by Cort in 1996 and "VN6" = made by Saehan(Sunghan) in 1996.
Exceptions: Pro-Tone Series (solid ash bodies) had serial numbers with either a) no preceding letters and 7 digits, with the first number being the year, or b) starting with KC for Korean Cort, followed by 2-digit year.
However, I will list the problems the guitar's had and what it took to solve them. The strings were crap and badly fitted (changed and fitted correctly) 2.
The nut slots were a little tight which affected the tuning stability (widened) 3.
and these changes are often disclosed and of a non-malicious nature.
